Which one seems like your best bet for valuable knowledge, and which send up a red flag?

- You’re about to uncover a new, never-before-released program that’s ready to guide you through all your online marketing concerns.

- This “must-have” product is stuffed with the essential knowledge about how the PROs are making more money than you could ever imagine.

If you said the third one seems likely to be the real deal, then you are in good company. A recent survey indicated that it was preferred by twice as many respondents as the other two combined. But what makes it so much more effective?

Many who read the first offer noted that the big word “FREE” was a turn-off. “In my experience,” said one respondent, “you get what you pay for in life, and something you pay nothing for is worth exactly that – nothing.”

Others noted that the word “totally” hurt the offer, and some mentioned that it sounded too basic. “There couldn’t be much worthwhile in it,” one commented. “Strategies sound like theories to me, not anything useful.”

The second headline fared worse than the first, as the “new, never-before-released” phrase drew fire. “How great can it be, if nobody has tried it?” one responder asked. “Just being new doesn’t make it good. Give me something that’s proven successful. And besides, it didn’t mention money like the other two did.”

That last comment is quite telling. The second offer is about alleviating “concerns,” while the first and third present “making money” as their primary user benefit. Given a choice between fewer worries and more cash, almost every respondent chose the latter.

The winner among the three had something that the others missed – a reference to “PROs,” which respondents said lent it some credibility. “I would expect to see case studies and examples,” one observer said. “That’s the kind of information I find useful.”

One survey participant said that “more money than you could ever imagine” was a stretch. “They have no idea how much money I can imagine,” she laughed. But still, she would be willing to learn more. “If I can find out how to avoid the mistakes others have made and model their successes, of course I would be interested.”
